Nice article. One thing you left out is that most of these walls in New England were built with slave labor. Farmers would have African slaves remove all the stones from their land so they could be tilled for crops.

I was at Portland Head Light House on Saturday September 24, 2011 and met artist and author Bill Thomson. I purchased one of his prints as he sold them outside the lightnouse door. I was wondering why I can't find out any information about him. Maybe I am spelling his name wrong??
