Just Like Mom’s Pastries in Weare,NH

dry caseIf you’re looking for the best-kept secret in the world of bakeries, we suggest coming to visit us at Just Like Mom’s Pastries, located  in Weare, NH. This quaint bakery has a large selection of more than just pastries. From cakes,  “U-Bake” pies, and hot paninis to frozen homemade meals to go, and a large variety of cookies, brownies, and bars, we’re sure not to disappoint.

Owner Karen Car started in the baking world as a graduate of Johnson and Wales University. She worked as a pastry chef in some of the region’s  finest establishments, the Bedford Village Inn, and Center of New Hampshire. In 1987, Karen opened Just Like Mom’s Pastries in her home, serving the community of finer restaurants with pastries and desserts, as well as wedding cakes for New Hampshire brides and venues. In July of 2004, Karen and Rich Car opened a retail bakery and deli with homemade soups and sandwiches, serving Southern New Hampshire.

Just Like Mom’s Pastries has a full case of freshly made pastries, such as napoleons, eclairs, cream horns, and mini cannolis. There is always an assortment of cakes in the case for an easy dessert or last-minute birthday cake (we also take custom orders as well). Cookies, brownies, and filled croissants are available, as are many sugar and shortbread cookies shaped for the season. If you’re looking for a treat, we always have bars and brownies like lemon squares and turtle cheesecakes.

adam cakeIn April of 2008, Yankee Magazine deemed Just Like Mom’s Whoopie pies the best in New England with this review: “Although Maine lays claim to this confection (as so other regions of the country), Just Like Mom’s Whoopie pie is true to its name: a large cake-like cookie, dense with chocolate flavor; slightly crispy on the edges; cut in half and slathered with a marshmallow crème filling, not white frosting. A melt-in-your-mouth “pie” worthy of the whoop.” Then in 2010, Boston Magazine’s article “New Hampshire’s Most Road Trip-Worthy Meals” says, “How should a Whoopie pie taste? Nothing like the ones you see wrapped in cellophane at the local convenience store, but everything like the treats you’ll find at Just Like Mom’s Pastries in Weare. With whipped marshmallow sandwiched between two rich chocolate cakes, these pies say “Whoopie” with an exclamation point.” And that’s just the traditional Whoopie pie. With over 75 varieties of Whoopie pies (as well as mini pies), some of our customer favorites are Chocolate Mousse, Pumpkin, Vanilla Peanut Butter, and Sex in a Whoopie (with whipped cream, chocolate mousse, Kahlua, and heath bar bits!). If you are a Whoopie pie connoisseur, this is one place you must add to your list of “must-trys”!

If you need gluten-free desserts, we carry a variety of moist and fudgy bars and cakes. White Chocolate Raspberry Brownie, Mint Surprise Brownie, Ultimate Peanut Butter Brownies are always available in the case. We also can make these into cakes for any occasion, as well as an Amaretto Fudge, Grand Marnier with Pecans, and a White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake with Cinnamon Walnut Crust. The Concord Monitor gave us the “Best Gluten-Free Brownie” in May of 2010.

If you need to eat lunch before dessert, we have a full deli menu, with homemade soups and quiche, sandwiches and salads, with specials every day! We have a full range of Dinners-to-Go: lasagna, pork pies, and meatloaf  with mashed potatoes, to name a few. We serve breakfast sandwiches all day on fresh-baked croissants, bagels, or English muffins, as well as seasonal fruit cups and fruit smoothies!
