Winter In New England

Pots in SnowWhile it is not always certain as to whether or not we'll be having a White Christmas in New England, we do know that Winter is imminent. As the cold sets in, the days grow shorter. Chimney's smoke and warm glows of light shimmer through frost covered window panes. Children wait with anticipation for the first flakes of snow to fall, eager to pack and throw that initial snowball. Carolers sing and bells ring as we enjoy the holidays and welcome in another New Year with family, friends, and significant others. Children await pending school cancellations and new opportunities for sledding or building the perfect snowman.

Winter vacations, getaways, and weekends find New England resorts and slopes busy with families and individuals participating in winter activities and sports that range from cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and ice skating to snowmobiling, tubing, and snowboarding or downhill skiing. For others, winter in New England is a time to snuggle under a blanket with a good book and hibernate, to catch up on old movies or shows, or return to an unfinished project or hobby. Some clean house while others heat up the kitchen by cooking and baking...and some simply head South until it gets warm again.
