The French national holiday Bastille Day commemorates the infamous storming of the Bastille, a Parisian prison, on July 14, 1789. Because this date marks the beginning of the French Revolution, people have been dancing on the site ever since. It is a day to celebrate freedom for all people and to proclaim "Liberty, Equality and Fraternity!"  L.A. Burdick and the Walpole Grocery in Walpole NH, invite you to a day of festivities celebrating Gallic culture in commemoration of Bastille Day on Wednesday, July 14th. This is Burdick's 7th annual Bastille Day event in Walpole, featuring a special French bistro menu offered from 11:30 AM until close at our restaurant. On Bastille Day the fun goes on all day and well into the evening; spilling out into an outdoor block party with raw bar, drinks and plenty of outdoor seating. If you are looking for a fun way to celebrate, this is exactly what you're looking for! Champagne, a visit to your local French restaurant for dinner, wearing of tricolor clothes, and perhaps a beret to match!

Our French Bistro Menu is full of recipes that include traditional sauces, appetizers, meats, fish, breads - truly authentic and delightful! We will also feature French wines and pastries in accompaniment.

The Walpole Grocery, just next door, will feature store-made pâtés and sausages, and always carry a fine selection of French wines and cheese to take home. And don't forget to stop in to our retail shop before you go - take home our Liberty Bar to enjoy later!

Enjoy keg beer, grilled foods, oysters, crepes and ice cream under the tent. Take your chance at some games. Later in the day, listen to live music by Patrick and Rebecca - performing piano and vocal "Grands Classiques". And at 5pm, Keith Zimmerman and his band, Les Zut Alors, will serenade us with classic French folk music.
