Fishing In New England

little-boy-fishingFor me, fresh water fishing in New England is a fun and inexpensive way to relax by the water and enjoy the natural beauty and wildlife of the New England outdoors. It presents an opportunity to connect with my children through interesting and productive conversations about whatever happens to be going on in their young, little lives. On other occasions, fishing serves as an outlet for quiet time and reflection--A time for us all to claim our piece of space on the bank,  cast out our lines, and say nothing at all-- To breathe freely and just be. This too, is good. And of course, there's the very, ferociously competitive, fisherman in each of us who is  always ready for the challenge to outwit the fish or one another and see who can catch the biggest or the most fish for the day!

So, whether you are fishing with kids in New England, are looking to get started fishing, or are an avid angler, the following are some good resources that will provide you with helpful fishing information about what you need to know and places to fish in New England.

Fishing Resources in New England and Beyond

Anglerweb: Awesome fishing resource! You can pretty much find everything you want to know about fish or fishing right here. What's even better is you can find places to fish in any state based on the criteria you choose...such as type of fish or fishing spot!

Animated Knots: This is a cool,  animated site that shows you how to make all kinds of fishing knots and more !

Hook & Bullet: Another interactive resource guide, similar to Anglerweb, that helps you find hunting and fishing spots in any state or county.

New England Sportsman Network: This website provides fishing information as well as fishing events and tournaments in New England. What I like moist about this site is the interactive database that lets you look up and find information about fresh water fish in the New England region. You can see a picture of what the fish looks like, where it can be found, what it likes to eat, and even angling techniques to help you make the catch.

On The Water: A New England online magazine providing fishing reports, forecast, tips, and techniques for freshwater and saltwater fishing in New England.

Take Me Fishing: Wonderful website complete with fishing rules and regulations for each state as well as links and information as to where to get a fishing license.

Weather Underground: Not only can you get the weather, but you can also use this interactive map for flood levels, flow rates, and  forecasted levels at all U.S. rivers. A valuable tool when planning a fishing trip.
