Polar Caves Park, Rumney, New Hampshire

polar caves park lookoutIf you are visiting, vacationing or just looking for something to do in the Lake Region of New Hampshire, Polar Cave Park just off Route 25 in Rumney, New Hampshire is the place to go.  ...And we’re giving away a Family-Four Pack for FREE ADMISSION !

These caves are really a sight to see. Approximately 50,000 years ago, continental glaciers began to thaw, loosening and cracking large blocks of granite that fell to the base of Hawks Cliff forming multiple glacial caves in between. The Asquamchemauke Indians made these caves there home for hundreds of years before later being rediscovered by a group of teenage boys in 1922. Since then, boardwalks and ladders were constructed and put in place so that visitors would be able to share in the experience and tour these amazing grounds.

Polar Caves Park is a New Hampshire destination that the entire family can enjoy. Complete with petting zoo, an old fashioned sugar house, various nature and history trails and beautiful mountain vistas, Polar Caves Park offers something for everyone.

polar-caveI’ve had the opportunity to visit Polar Caves Park with my family on a few occasions––and each time was as exhilarating as the first. The Guide’s Platform…the Lemon Squeeze…87 steps…we did  it all ! Our legs were like jelly as we made our way back to the car…finally able to justify that double dip ice cream cone we’d  been craving all day!

The tour through the caves is self-guided, allowing you to pick and choose what caves to enter or avoid, customizing to the needs of small children or the less fit. As you meander through the maze of caves, the drop in temperature becomes quickly noticeable. In fact, the average temperature in the caves is only 55 degrees––both, welcoming and refreshing, on the hot and humid New England summer day!

So, do you wanna go...?

If you lived in a cave, I would decorate the walls with paintings of animals that I would encounter out in the wild.

Thanks for the chance!!!

If I lived in a cave, I'd blow a wall out. I'm claustrophobic.

If I lived in a cave I'd paint the walls with pictures of all my imaginary friends. I'd probably be much better off!
